RCIA – Rite of Election

This weekend, the First Sunday of Lent, our Catechumens and their Godparents joined Bishop Tom in Mullingar as they celebrate The Rite of Election where their names are enrolled in the ‘Book of the Elect’.  They will celebrate the remaining ‘scrutinies’ associated with the RCIA at Sunday Masses during Lent.  We would like to express our thanks to our catechists who support, instruct and encourage them during their time of prayer, preparation and reflection.  We invite parishioners to support our Catechumens (now known as ‘The Elect’) preparing to be received into the Church on Holy Saturday night through the Sacraments of Baptism, First Eucharist and Confirmation.


RCIA: Spiritual Companion

Stained glass windowSpiritual Companions are friends in Christ – instruments whom God uses to support candidates preparing to be received into the Catholic faith at Easter. Through the prayers of the Spiritual Companion, the candidate learns to be open to the Lord’s will and to rely upon the Spirit for guidance. In addition, your role allows candidates to experience the encouragement and support of our community in a personal way as they journey to the Lord’s Table

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults: Current participants

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process of formation offered to those who seek to become members of the Catholic Church. Ashbourne-Donaghmore Parish is delighted to have three applicants currently participating on the programme, Merja Dolan, Beatriz Ramos Bruton and Laura Paulaviciute. We wish them the very best on their journey.
