Holy Week Schedule
Thursday, April 6th 2017


The Chrism Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Smith with the priests and religious of the Diocese of Meath in the Cathedral on Wednesday 12th April at 7pm.  During Mass the priests of the Diocese will renew their commitment to priestly life and the Holy Oils for use during the year in the parishes of our diocese, will be blessed.



Morning Prayer  9.45am

Confessions  10am-11am

The Lord’s Supper, takes place in Ashbourne Church, 8pm followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the St. John Paul II Oratory.

Adoration will conclude at 10.30pm with Night Prayer for Vocations.



Morning Prayer and Blessing of Shrouds   9.45am

Confessions – 10am-11am

The Passion of the Lord, Ashbourne, 3pm

Stations of the Cross, Ashbourne, 7pm.

A collection will be taken during Good Friday ceremonies for the suffering Church in the Holy Land and the Middle East.  Since the needs are so vast and the suffering of Christians and other faith groups so great, Pope Francis has encouraged all Catholics to support our persecuted brothers and sisters.

This years portrait created by students from Ashbourne Community School, draws it’s inspiration from the Thirteenth Station of the Cross: Jesus is taken down from the cross, and the plight of refugees across the world.  It will adorn Ashbourne Church from Good Friday.  We invite all to spend some time in quiet prayer and reflection.

Your prayers are asked for those preparing to be received into the Church on Holy Saturday.  We give thanks for their fruitful participation in preparation for Sacraments and express also our deep gratitude to the RCIA preparation team in the parish.
