July Prayer

OLMCDear Jesus, July is for many a time to rest and relax. Lord may all who travel do so in safety. While we engage in recreation which restores our bodies and minds help us to spend some time regularly with You so that Your Holy Spirit may restore and recreate our souls too. May the sporting activities which people engage in over the summer be an opportunity for fraternity and personal growth in generosity and respect for others.

Lord, You poured out Your Blood on Calvary as a fount of life for us. We claim It’s protection for ourselves, our families and all for whom we pray in these times of worldwide distress, hunger, homelessness, war, disease and urban violence. We remember those in our own country forced to sleep in the streets and those forgotten and alone. We ask Sts. Joachim and Anne, parents of Mary, to adopt them as their own children. May St Martha sister of Lazarus ever hospitable to Jesus and His companions ensure that the hands of those who provide hospitality for them never lack the means to do so.

Lord, You commissioned us to go out to all nations teaching them all that You command and baptising them in the name of the Most Holy Trinity. With Pope Francis we ask the Holy Spirit, the apostles Thomas and James, Mary Magdalen and your holy martyr Oliver Plunkett to help all missionaries especially lay people to witness courageously to the Gospel in the poorest countries particularly those in which Your followers are persecuted.

Mary, mother of the Church on earth, of the souls in Purgatory and the blessed in Heaven, Lady of Mount Carmel intercede for us all and clothe us in the mantle of your special protection so that we may not succumb to the temptation to serve mammon. Help us to use wisely the things of earth to ensure for all the necessities of life. Help us to be content in the knowledge that Jesus supplies all our needs when we come to Him with open hearts and empty hands.

Lord, we remember the people of Ukraine at this time and we commend them and all of Europe to the protection of St Benedict our patron. Heavenly Father for the sake of the sorrowful passion of Jesus have mercy on us and on the whole world. Amen
