Monthly Prayer, September 2011
Sunday, September 4th 2011

Image of JesusLord, summer is over, the harvest has been gathered and schools and colleges re-open. Whether a new beginning, a return to chosen studies or the start of a career, grant that all may find the help and support they need to succeed. Help teachers to instil the love of truth in their students and to educate them in authentic moral and spiritual values.

Thank You Lord of the harvest, for the food produced for us by those who work on the land. Grant that in these difficult times nobody may be in need for lack of our generosity. May St. Vincent de Paul and Bl. Frederick Ozenam continue to inspire those who serve the community on our behalf.

Lord Jesus, as we celebrate the Feast of the Dedication of our Cathedral may the priests and people of Meath be truly united with our Bishop Michael as he leads us in living witness to Your Word in the tradition of the Apostles and teachers of Your Church—Matthew, Gregory, Robert, John and Jerome—whose feasts we celebrate this month. May Your Word in the holy scriptures be our inspiration and our light. Help us to respond in love when you knock at the door of our hearts.

Lord, hear our prayer for the renewal of the Church in Ireland. Watched over by the Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, may we be healed and freed to hear the Gospel message anew and find strength to strive to establish Your Kingdom of justice, love and peace here and throughout the world. With Pope Benedict XVI we ask the martyrs, in particular those of Korea, to intercede for the church especially in Asia.

On your birthday we thank and bless your name Oh Holy Mary, born to suffer for us in union with Jesus Your Son, the Son of God and our saviour. Mary our mother gather us together in the sanctuary of your Immaculate Heart. Amen.
