October Prayer 2014
Monday, September 29th 2014

AngelDear Jesus, You command Your disciples to “go out to the whole world and proclaim the good news.”  During this month help us to focus on our Christian obligation to share our faith, in a particular way, with those we meet each day.  May St. Therese, patron of the missions, help us to be “love in the heart of the Church”, so that  through prayer and whatever material help we can afford, we may be enabled to connect with those overseas who still await the gift of baptism.

Lord Jesus, Universal King, we appeal to Your Majesty for peace and harmony in those countries battered by war and violence at this time.  We beseech You to hear the prayer of Your Most Holy Mother Mary, Queen of The Rosary, that love may triumph over hatred, and peace over discord and destruction.  Loving Lord, may their guardian angels gently lead those sheep and lambs wounded, exhausted, frightened and homeless into Thy tender care.  We ask You, Prince of Peace, to hear our prayer that goodwill and common sense will prevail in Northern Ireland that the hard won peace will be nurtured into genuine respect and friendship between the two communities to the benefit of all people on this island.

Lord, remember the sufferings of Sts. Faustina and John Paul whom You chose as living witnesses of Your Divine Mercy.  Grant the grace of true conversion to those most in need, and relief of suffering to the souls in Purgatory, especially those who have nobody to pray for them.

Lord of the harvest, we thank You for the good harvest this Autumn which will provide food for families and bread for The Eucharist throughout the year.  With St. Teresa and Bl. Columba Marmion and those countless saints and martyrs who spent their lives in contemplation of Your goodness we bless, praise, adore, glorify and thank You for Your goodness to us.  Help us to use wisely the gifts of nature and of grace which You have given us.

We  thank You for those recently ordained to serve You as priests in our diocese and ask Your special blessing on them for having had the courage to leave all things to follow You.  May their example encourage others also to launch out into the deep.

Lord Jesus , may Thy kingdom come and Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
