September Parish Prayer
Saturday, August 30th 2014

Picture1Dear Jesus, together with Mary your sorrowful mother we venerate the Cross from which, through Your pierced heart, there poured out blood and water which redeemed us from original sin, made us holy again by sanctifying grace, and restored us to friendship with God our father.

Most Holy Mary, as we celebrate your birthday, we thank you for your humble submission to the will of God that you should become the mother of His Son with Whom you would share His sorrow and suffering for our sake and become out mother also. Dear Mary, Mother of Sorrows, we so need your loving protection now amidst the genocidal wars and unspeakable suffering perpetrated on the innocent in so many countries throughout the world. Mary, mother of silent love, intercede for us that we may rediscover the value of silence and learn to listen to the voice of God and to the voices of our brothers and sisters. Mary, pray with us that the witness of persecuted Christians may manifest the love of Christ to those who do not yet know Him.

St. Pio, martyr of the Cross of Christ pray for all who are in need of the healing balm of confession that they may not be afraid to approach Jesus to receive His loving embrace as He welcomes them home: for priests that, ever appreciating the importance of the sacrament of penance, they may always make themselves available in the confessional; and for those who carry heavy crosses at this time that they may find relief in prayer and in the worthy reception of the Eucharistic Body and Blood of Jesus.

Lord Jesus, as schools and colleges reopen we pray for those who return to their studies and for those who start school or college for the first time. May all students, especially seminarians, share in the wisdom of Sts. Gregory, John
Chrysostom, Robert and Jerome whose feasts we celebrate this month.

Holy Spirit, we ask that You grant our leaders the wisdom to rule in the common good. Lord, for the sake of even one good person on this island, hear our prayer and send Your holy angels and archangels to protect us from every evil and to ensure continued peace and stability in our land. Thank You Lord Jesus. Amen
