The Ashbourne Parish Youth Group
Tuesday, September 28th 2010

The Ashbourne Parish Youth Group (APYG) was formed during the summer months as a result of the “Called 2 Serve” initiative.

Aimed at young people aged between 12 and 25 years, we hope to motivate them by a personal faith in Jesus Christ where they feel accepted, valued and empowered to fully participate in parish life.

Through our work with other ministries and services, e.g. Junior Readers, Confirmation Children, Music Groups, we wish to deepen the sense of belongingness of young people to the parish and community and encourage them to participate in the ministry of the Church by using their skills and talents.

We have already set ourselves many goals, including setting up a Facebook page, assisting with Confirmation preparation, organising an information evening with guest speakers and celebrating a Youth Mass every month.

From September, we will hold a Youth Mass on the last Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. We will have Junior Readers, local singers, musicians and choirs, young artists, writers and poets. We encourage all young people to get involved in any way that they feel comfortable.

The group is currently looking for more members. Presently, we meet once per month. Our work involves meeting with the young people of the parish in schools, colleges and other community settings, involvement in youth masses, organisation of pilgrimages, social projects, liaising with other ministries and the bringing together of young people.

Anyone interested in getting involved, please contact Sarah-Jane on 086-8598935 or the Parish Office at 01-8353149.

Come and See, be inspired!
